Lagos State Police Command had begun an investigation into the Chrisland School video trending online.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundey, confirmed this on Monday.
Hundey said the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, had given an order for a thorough investigation.
The mother of the girl claimed that fellow mates drugged and raped her daughter in Dubai during World School Games.
The school reportedly won more than 30 medals at the event.
Earlier, the video of the sex act trended online, which generated various comments from netizens.
Investigation Will be Thorough – Police
Lagos State Police command promised to engage in a thorough investigation to unravel the mystery of the case.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the investigation would cover the identification of actors in the video.
Furthermore, the investigation would reveal what actually happened in the video and where it took place.
Also, the inquiry would determine whether the school threatened the life of one of the actors or not.
The allegation of recurring pregnancy tests without the consent of the girl’s parents would be investigated.
Part of the statement reads;
“The command is equally taking cognisance of the cybercrime angle to the whole episode.
“And will not hesitate to enlist the support of the Interpol should the need arises.
“For a holistic and unbiased investigation, the command shall be working with relevant ministries, departments, agencies, and non-governmental organisations.”
Lagos Closed Down Chrisland School
In another development, the Lagos State Government ordered the closing down of all campuses of Chrisland Schools in Lagos.
This is to enable all relevant government agencies investigating the matter to operate without any hindrance.
The government reiterated its commitment to child protection as safety as enshrined in the Child’s Right Act.
It warned that there would be consequences for those involved in the production, and distribution of the Chrisland School video.
