NEXIT is an exit programme for beneficiaries of Nigeria’s Federal Government Npower scheme.
The Npower programme was an intitative of President Muhammadu Buhari, and it began on June 8, 2016, to curb the rising rate of unemployment.
It is an arm of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP), and youths between the ages of 18 and 35 are eligible.
Participants in the Npower programme receive a N30,000 stipend monthly in addition to devices for acquiring skills.
Furthermore, the scheme had enrolled 500,000 participants in Batches A and B. Batch C enrolment is due in September 2022.
Since the Npower programme aims at enrolling participants for 24 months, the NEXIT programme is to absorb exited beneficiaries.
They will receive 5-day training on empowerment skills before getting loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Besides, the loan amount is up to three million naira, which they are to use to start their businesses.
Last month, the Federal Government flagged off the training for 467,183 participants who had completed Batches A and B enrolment.
The training started for the first batch of 75,600 participants.
Three Core Segments of Npower
The N-Power scheme has three major segments. The first one is N-Power Volunteer Corps, which is designed for graduates.
N-Power Build is the second and it is targeted at youths who have not graduated from a higher institution.
The third is a segment is known as N-Power Knowledge, which trains youths in software, hardware and other creative ventures.
Besides, FG recently introduced the N-Skills segment for those without formal education.
They will get training in vocational skills as well as trades.
