New Alaafin will emerge soon – Oyo Govt

The Oyo State government has given assurances to Oyo townspeople that a new Alaafin would come to light soon.

While speaking at the eighth-day fidau/interdenominational prayer for the late king, Governor Seyi Makinde urged the people of Oyo to be patient.

The prayer was to honour the late Oba Adeyemi and it took place at the Oyo’s palace arcade.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal, represented the Governor at the prayer.

The governor said he knew people would be anxious to get a new king, but they needed to follow the due process.

“People are eager to see the next king, but we have to follow due process.

“We promise not to compromise and another Alaafin will come in due time,” the governor said.

Many dignitaries were present at the event, including Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Oba AbdulRashid Anikulapo, the Onibode of Igboholand, among others.
