Here is FG and ASUU Strike Update. Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu begs lecturers as the 8-week strike extension ends on May 9, 2022.
In a meeting held between the striking non-academic staff unions of universities (SSANU and NASU) and the federal government yesterday, the minister said that the government did not abandon the striking workers.
The minister was represented by the permanent secretary ministry of Education, Andrew David Adejo, at the meeting called by Labour Minister, Chris Ngige, to resolve the issues.
Furthermore, he said the strike has caused social issues, hence, it is very vital to resolve lingering issues.
Students have started demonstrating demanding an end to the strike.
The strike by university workers has paralysed both academic and non-academic work in universities.
SSANU and NASU joined the strike a month ago while ASUU began its warning strike on February 14, 2022.
After a month, the ASUU extended the warning strike by two months, which expires on May 9.
There is no end in sight to the lingering warning strike as both parties have not reached a significant agreement.
That ends the FG and ASUU Strike Update.
