A Poly Ibadan student, identified as Igunu Oromidayo Daniel, has died after a suspected drug-induced sexual encounter with his girlfriend Aramide Adeleke.
According to Guardian, Daniel became unconscious after the encounter and was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH) for treatment.
Daniel died on Monday in his room at Apete, and was a student of Civil Engineering department while his girlfriend is a student of the Business Administration department.
A neighbour confirmed the story to newsmen.
“He is in my faculty. We were supposed to start our examinations yesterday before the school was closed down due to protest.
“We were asked to go back home, which we all did and when they got home, they took drugs and started having sex, which led to the death of Daniel.”
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Adewole Soladoye, confirmed the incident.
“It is true and unfortunate. We sympathise with the family. Meanwhile the late Daniel was the best graduating student during his ND days. He lost his brother last week and he attended his burial on Sunday.
“He returned to school because of examination and died on Monday. We are not medical experts and we cannot say the reason responsible for his death. In the case of the lady in the hospital, we wish her quick recovery.
“We are aware that the medical experts are currently working to ensure she regains consciousness. The institution deeply regrets the unfortunate incident. As parents, we shall continue to give helpful advice to our students, and we want the parents to play their role too.”
