Antonio Rudiger joins Real Madrid on a free transfer


German defender, Antonio Rudiger, is set to join Real Madrid as his Chelsea contract expires on June 30.

According to Chelsea’s official website, Rudiger is leaving Chelsea after a five-year stay in the club.

He won many trophies with the Blues including the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup as well as FIFA Club World Cup.

The 29-year-old played a major role in both Chelsea’s defence and dressing room politics.

He made a total of 203 appearances for the Blues and scored 12 goals.

Real Madrid signed Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer with both parties agreeing on a four-year deal.

Besides, the German’s formal presentation at the Bernabeu will take place on July 20.

He will be competing for shirts with top defenders like David Alaba and Eder Militao depending on the plan of the manager.

Also, Rudiger has been getting a regular shirt for his country recently.

He played all four of Germany’s Euro 2020 as well as seven of their qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup.
